Who we are
Named in loving memory of a beloved best friend, Fido’s Promise is an emerging nonprofit* initiative focused on legacy care and rehoming readiness for the pets of hospice patients.
Fido’s promise is based in North Texas. We are currently serving pets and their people in Dallas and Collin Counties.
*Fido’s Promise is not currently a tax-exempt organization.
What we do
Fido’s Promise coordinates and covers comprehensive veterinary care for the pets of those living with terminal illness. To ensure pets receive the care they need to remain healthy, happy and best prepared for future rehoming, we:
Schedule appointments directly with veterinary providers;
Transport pets to and from appointments;
Cover the cost of wellness exams, including diagnostic testing such as blood work, urinalysis and fecal testing;
Fund preventative and ongoing care, such as vaccinations, medications and dental treatment; and
Coordinate follow-up care, specialist referrals and ongoing treatment plans when required.
Why we do it
Our hope is to remove one of the most common barriers to successful rehoming: unresolved medical needs. By reducing medical uncertainty and unexpected pet care costs now, we help create a more secure future for these four-legged family members.
We are committed to ensuring that at the end of life, no one’s best friend goes without care or faces an uncertain future.
More Questions, Answered:
-
At Fido’s Promise, legacy care means recognizing that pets are more than companions; they are part of the life, love and memory a person leaves with others. We help hospice patients care for that legacy by making sure their pets are happy and healthy, ready to be welcomed into the next chapter of their lives.
-
Hospice is specialized medical care for people expected to live six months or less. Hospice combines medicine with comfort and dignity for terminally ill patients and their loved ones.
We believe this stage of life matters and deserves exceptional compassion and attention. We are proud to build our mission around it.

Fido’s Promise helps fill a gap within the already under-supported area of hospice pet care. Hospice-focused pet support is rare, and the few programs that do exist focus on concerns such as day-to-day assistance and advocacy for patients and their pets.
Fido’s Promise was created to address a different need by focusing on rehoming readiness and preparing pets for their future.
-
No. Fido’s Promise does not provide hospice or end-of-life care for people or pets. We focus specifically on veterinary and transitional support for the pets of hospice patients. For hospice-related questions, please contact a licensed hospice provider.
